Well this jacket is a piece of crap if you intend to use it as walking, gentle stroll because it doesn't stop wind and cold. I was out last week for 4-5 hour walk in NYC in low 40's and not much wind . Wore a LL bean base layer and REI lightly insulated midlayer. I would rate it 1 star for regular non sporty use but i will rate it 3-3.5 stars for fast paced activityAlthough it can warm up with intense activity, trail running, fast paced hiking, looks good, is light weight, very compressible.I think there are other companies who would provide better value in both the uses mentioned above. Even a half priced thermoluxe without any down from other brands is much warmer and better designed than this jacket.Size: At 185 lbs and 6 feet. i wear medium and large depending on brand. I bought a large..it is ok on waist but lil loose on chest area which makes it comfortable for a midlayer.Very nice jacket. Has a very athletic fit. I usually wear a large in most brands, had to go up an XL size in this jacket. I tried on various Salomon jackets and had to go an XL on those too. I have a 43" chest and 36" waist. I really like the hood on this jacket too. It fits perfectly for normal use, meaning kicking around Chicago 20 degree weather. You would probably have a problem fitting a helmet under this hood.it is very light and soft. I recommendate of these style.I am 5 ft 6 inches. fits nicely. Arms longer than I expected but with elastic cuffs, no problem. Also had room to layer under jacket without feeling too tight. Took this jacket down to Zero degrees with just a dress shirt and thin undershirt and was a little cold. With a sweater, no problem. This item is waterproof.
